The original awsnewbies.com was founded in the summer of 2018 out of desperation by Hiroko Nishimura. In 2018, I was looking to pass the newly-created AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Exam, but was unable to find truly beginner-friendly material.
Most courses and resources at the time for the AWS Cloud Practitioner Exam were materials for the AWS Solutions Architect Associate Exam. The content was there, but the materials themselves were not necessarily written for the “non-technical” audience that the exam was intended for.
Most of the exam prep materials I attempted to decipher were too technical, filled to the brim with technical jargon and infrastructure concepts I have never encountered before, making it extremely difficult to make sense of it all. Not to mention all of the services that all had some combination of Amazon/AWS and Cloud something something something… (Or an acronym that most definitely looked like cryptic messages, like S3).
