AWS Free Tier provides free services that may or may not expire after 12 months. All you have to do to begin using Free Tier is to sign up for your free AWS account at Amazon Web Services Console.

Some services always free in Free Tier are:
- VPC
- Elastic Beanstalk (service free; not resources provisioned)
- Auto Scaling (service free; not resources provisioned)
- CloudFormation (service free; not resources provisioned)
- IAM
- Opsworks
- Consolidated Billing
- Chime
Free to Try
Some services provides up to a certain threshold of free services, and then charges, as well as expires after 12 months. For example, EC2 provides 750 hours per month of compute capacity for the first 12 months free, and S3 provides 5GB of standard storage for free for 12 months. Both will charge for those same capacities after 12 months.
Other services, like Glacier provides 10GB of storage for free forever, and DynamoDB provides 25GB of storage for free forever as well.
